Here is Part II of The Great Interview Project. If you missed it you can read my interview in Part I.This time I interview Emily from The Righters! She could not have been nicer and I really enjoyed reading her responses. She even gave me a nice compliment afterwards! I loved doing these interviews so much I wish I could enter again.
1. Are you anywhere as forgetful as I am or are you one of those fascinating people that are very organized and always know what they are supposed to be doing?
Very Forgetful. This morning I was staring in the pantry wondering what I was looking for before I realized that what I was looking for wasn’t in the pantry. Now, 2 hours later, I don’t have a clue what I was looking for in the first place.
2. You have been blogging since 2005. What made you start blogging? What keeps you going?
I started blogging because I used to keep a journal but I sort of fell off the wagon with that. My sister had a blog, and I thought, why not? I keep going because it’s the main way I keep in touch with people, especially since we moved East.
3. How is it blogging with your husband? Does he enjoy it as much as you do?
Not even close. I do the bulk of it, but now and then he’ll feel obligated to put some pictures or a video up. Makes my day when he jumps in.
4. Do you have any “off-limits” topics for your blog?
Yes, definitely. I mean, my grandma reads this blog! We try to “keep it Disney”
5. Tell me the story of how you and your husband met and how you knew he was “the one”. It’s almost your 3rd wedding anniversary!
We met at a friend’s apartment at kind of a Church activity. He was clearly impressed with me, and I liked that he recognized my fantasticness so quickly. We spent several hours talking that evening, and resumed early the next morning. We were almost inseparable after that. On day 3 he told me he was recently divorced and I remember telling my roommate that night that I was going to marry a divorced guy. It was still several months before I was completely sold on him, but it was less than 6 months from first meeting to wedding. Wow. You’d think I’d be used to that by now. That’s fast!
6. What is the best part of your day?
I have a few: the lane change to my exit on the way home from work, about 5 minutes after I get home when I can play with my baby and catch up with my husband, and when I get to go to bed. I have a crush on sleep.
7. If you could remove something from your day and never have to do it again, what would it be?
Work? I know that’s generic and that I’m not even 30, but I am REALLY looking forward to retirement.
8. Do you and your husband still play the hypothetical game? That is one of my favorite games to play with my girlfriend. What has been your favorite scenario question so far?
We do! But not nearly as much. My favorite is probably when our 16 year old daughter tells us she’s pregnant and she’s not going to stop smoking and she still hates our guts. How are we going to deal with that little brat? Last night though, we talked about 1) what to do in a tornado and 2) what to do if someone breaks into our house in the middle of the night. (Wearing pants is key on this one, we determined. People in their underwear holding a baseball bat are more laughable than intimidating.)
9. What are six items you need to be you?
Husband, son, religion, education, hoodie, computer. Some of those aren’t really items, but I think I could make do without much else.
10. Have you ever had a negative experience with your blog?
I don’t think so. Well, once I called my in-laws a bunch of hippies on my blog and my MIL emailed to let me know that they weren’t actually hippies. Not a big deal though, and yes, they are.
11. I see you enjoy sushi. Me too! What is your favorite kind?
Strawberry fields from Takashi in SLC. Best I’ve ever had, hands down. If you are ever in Utah, make sure to eat there. Otherwise, I’m open to all sorts of sushi, but I’m really kind of grossed out by supermarket sushi.
12. What misconception do you feel people have about you?
I don’t know. I think my boss thinks I’m unmotivated, I think my FIL thinks I’m a bad influence, but, well, maybe they’re right. Oh, I think most people think I’m nice.
13. You have five sisters. Do you have any brothers? How did it feel being part of such a big family?
2 brothers, but they’re on the younger side of the family. It’s really fun having a lot of siblings. We almost don’t need any friends outside the family! There was always someone to play with growing up, and if you’re fighting with one, there are plenty more available.
14. Where has been your favorite place you have traveled to so far? What did you like best about it?
That’s a toss up between NYC and Fiji. And they don’t get much different from each other. I love how walkable and busy New York is, and I love how laid back and tropical paradise Fiji is. Museums and parks and restaurants and people vs beaches and open air markets and fruit I can’t pronounce and long bus rides through villages to get to town.
15. I am pretty obsessed with Bath & Body products right now. Which brand and products, if any, do you live by?
Aroma therapy hand soaps. Probably Energy, Sensual, and Stress Relief are my current favorite scents. Aaahhhhhh!
16. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
Physically? the arches of my feet. They are seriously impressive. Personality-wise? my enthusiasm
17. What about you has changed most since getting older?
I’m not as loud as I used to be. I’ve been working on volume control for a lot of years, and I’m pleased to announce that I am like a normal person now in that regard.
18. What do you really hope to accomplish within the next year?
I really feel like I should have a plan for accomplishing something. Oh, I quit caffeine a few weeks ago. It’s been pretty rough, but I hope to stick with it. Ooh, I’d like to reduce the number of days I have to come into the office to work. Either go down to part time or work from home part time.
Thanks so much for doing the survey! I can’t wait to read what you have to say. Is it alright to post your replies and link to you from my site after you’re done?
Of course! This has been a lot of fun. Thanks for interviewing me. You should make a career out of it!
