Today I am bringing you good pictures of Penelope! I have had a horrible time photographing her in the past. She doesn’t hold still for long and her eyes are too fair and she gets the worst red eye ever. This time I tried taking pictures of her in natural light and it worked like a charm.
P.S. - I finally shaved my legs and they feel more fantastic than ever. Perhaps we should all go on strike for a month every once and a while. Because it makes the smoothness feel all the more wonderful.
It’s the second installation of Rabbit Wednesday, which may or may not become a regular feature on this site.
Kasey and I created a video for your enjoyment on the effects of harmonica music on our rabbits.
Those thumps you hear are something rabbits do when they are really angry. It’s supposed to be one of the biggest warning signs they give out, but our Tula will thump over ANYTHING. So it’s really hard to take her seriously. Penelope on the other hand only does it when something is really wrong, i.e. out of water/food or upset with us.
This next video is one Kasey made when she was bored at home. I titled it “Carrots the Musical!”.
You could also say I torture you by making you listen to the sound of my voice when I talk to my bunnies.
I actually want to do a weekly bunny post just so I can talk about them for one day a week and show you new videos/pictures on them. Maybe this will be the first one of those. It could be Rabbit Wednesdays! I could be starting something new and here you are witnessing the very first event. It’s historical almost! No? Not quite? I should shut up and show you the darn video? Damn…I didn’t know you could ice me like that. Fine then, here it is:
What is that you say? You enjoyed the cuteness of my rabbits? You wish you could see more of Tula only without hearing me talk?
Well, my lovely reader I care about you and I listen to what you have to say. Here is a video of Tula narrated (mostly) by Kasey.
Okay so I gush in the background of that one too. Sorry!
I feel like you guys haven’t gotten to see much of Tula. I lost the camera charger pretty much right after we got her. I love making movies and Kasey and I made a few of the bunnies to share with you guys. I know some of you coughkylecough don’t enjoy this sort of thing, but these bunnies are pretty much my favorite thing in my life.
Here is Penelope begging us to give her treats and being the mean parents we are we do not give in! That is, we don’t until after we finish the movie.
1. There are so many things I would show you if only I could find the freaking charger for my camera battery. A charger that they don’t seem to sell in stores. I could order one from Amazon, but I want to see if it turns up.
2. Kasey and I are going on a mini vacation this weekend to our favorite city, Philadelphia! I’m planning it as part of my very late Valentine’s Day present to her. I’m very excited.
3. They opened a Steve & Barry’s just a half hour from us. It is so interesting the way the towns around me are moving up. This town used to be pretty small, but still had the most to do around us. It had a decent mall and then a Red Lobster and Chi Chi’s nearby. Now there are tons of stores everywhere and much more places to eat. It’s really interesting. We spotted the S&B’s yesterday while going to Old Country Buffet, Kasey’s favorite place to eat. We stopped in b/c they were having an sale, $8.95 for everything in the store. Holy crap! I got a pair of Bitten jeans (Yes jeans! I now own a pair of pants!) and a dress. After we left OCB was closed. I felt really bad that my shopping made Kasey miss eating there so we are heading back there tonight so I can take her there and also so I can get some more Bitten. I so heart Sarah Jessica Parker for creating this line. She could have made plenty of money by making a designer line that only appeals to the rich & skinny, but I am thrilled that she made this affordable line that includes clothing I can fit into. (Even with my recent 12 lb weight gain. Boo.)
4. Yesterday I had my first appointment with my new Dr. It went well. They ordered tons of blood work so I am dreading getting that done. She also deemed my new rash (not the armpit one, the one on my neck) “very interesting” and “something that needs to be looked at”. I have an appointment at the dermatologist next week.
5. Tula is not like Penelope at all. I used to adore having a litter-trained rabbit, but Tula doesn’t seem to be having anything of it. She pretty much goes where she is and she seems to poop her weights worth daily. I think it will balance out once she gets used to eating better food, but for now it is a little too much. She is friendly, but she is also very timid. She is very good with being handled. I hold her several times a day to get her used to it. I clipped her nails a bit today (I have to get better clippers to finish. Mine seem dull.) and she was great. She just stayed still while I did it.
6. Penelope is jealous and hates Tula. Tula is sort of like the overly friendly neighbor that drops by. Whenever she is out she tries to go to Penny’s cage to play and Penny just tries to bit her through the bars. We have to wait until two weeks after Penny gets spayed to try and bond them. Other than her biting me once though she seems to be good. Kasey and I are trying to redo the room so we all have more space so she has been caged more than normal. I think that is adding to it.
Can I tell you guys a secret? I know that is a stupid question to ask the internet, bear with me here. So Kasey and I had an interesting day today. We went out a little shopping and got a bit to eat. Then we were at a pet store buying some food for Penelope. Someone was standing near us and once she saw us picking up bunny stuff she started talking to us. She said she got a bunny for her daughter for Easter (of course) and quickly found out her daughter is allergic. Then I guess the store wouldn’t take it back and she couldn’t find anyone else to take the bunny. Umm…okay. So she wanted to know if we wanted one because her next stop was the SPCA.
This rabbit is some sort of Peter’s Rabbits so it is supposed to be bred for friendliness and it is already spayed…well for two bunny people that is hard to say no to. We told her we needed to think about it, but told her not to go to the SPCA yet. We went to another part of the store to talk about it and decided that we would take her.
Yeah guys…I am trying to tell you that we got a new rabbit today. I just couldn’t bear the thought of this adorable bunny in a grungy cage being poked at by lord knows how many people or worse a hasty Easter present for another kid.
After much deliberation we decided to name her Tula Madeline. (Kasey and I LOVE the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding. That is where we got the name from.) I guess you want to see her right? Okay. I have that covered.
Now the problem is bonding her and Penelope because apparently Penelope hates small adorable baby bunnies. I might have to take some time to work on this. In any case there is a new member of the family…oddly around Easter.
Today Kasey and I slept in together. We woke up slowly, got ourselves ready and went to her mom’s house to pick up some things. Afterwards we spent a while in Borders. We went to almost every section and really took our time, taking in all the titles and showing each other what we had found. It was really enjoyable. After we were done browsing I got a coffee and we left. The sky was blue and sunny and the air was warm in comparison to Saturday’s storm so we took the long was to Blockbuster where we needed to return the movie Secretary*.
After we got home we realized we needed to go back out where we just were so that Kasey could pay her bill. I didn’t mind at all. After that task was accomplished we went to the supermarket to get some items to make sandwiches for dinner.
We made our sandwiches right after we arrived home and put in our newest Netflix rental The Namesake. It was a fantastic movie. We both LOVED it. I will certainly be purchasing that one. Now Kasey is tidying up the room as Hairspray plays in the background and Penelope hops around the room. Laundry is in the dryer and the dishes have been done.
It was the perfect day to get my mind off of last week. I’m feeling happy again. Some drama got stirred from my entry last week so I had to take it down. Some people surprise you and some people don’t. That’s all I’m really going to say about it. I don’t regret posting it through. My friend Ariana whom I haven’t seen or spoken to since August contacted me and we’re going to sushi on Tuesday night. See..some people do surprise you.
I feel like all my pent up anger has vanished. I am feeling like myself again. I really do officially feel like I have let it all go.
Oh! I have been thinking about doing some password protected posts. I didn’t really think about it before, but I think it would be best and that way I could speak my mind about some things without causing problems for others. Don’t worry! I’ll keep you all informed and the password will be gladly given.
I am swiftly becoming one of those crazy animal people. I mean…I have had a lot of animals. I have owned: dogs, cats, chinchillas, tarantulas, fish, rats and mice. I have felt nothing towards any of them like I feel to this bunny. I mean I enjoy the presence of animals, but other than the dogs they all ended up being little more than extra work. I felt no real bond or companionship to them. The dogs also tend to be too much for me. They are now family dogs instead of my dogs and dogs in general overwhelm me. I can’t really handle them because I feel like they need too much from me. I worry I could never be good enough.
This totally is not the case with the bunny. I feel like I could have her out more. I worry about her veggie intake and I worry about how often her litter is cleaned. Other than that I feel content and at ease in my bunny care taking.
There is something about coming home to her that I love. I can relax and let go of work and she isn’t on top of me. She just waits patiently to be let out and then she hops happily around the room. She is just everything I would want in a pet.
She is also adorable! Don’t believe me? What about this video of her eating an apple?
Please excuse the voice I use when I talk to the bunny and my gushing. I can’t help it!
Still not cute enough? What about her getting all up in the camera’s face and then running around my room?
Please excuse my messy room and my giggling. She does that to me.
But wait! There’s more! (I know you are SO excited.)
Did I mention that Penelope has a Fairy Godmother? Well I need to have someone else share in my obsession so Loralee has been appointed official Fairy Godmother to Penelope. She’s awesome!
Okay. I’ll stop now.
Really. I will.
Oh you can deal with one more photo. This one features my butt!
Not naked though.
You should be grateful.
Title: “I’m Sticking With You” by: The Velvet Underground
Grey’s Anatomy was really good last night! I’m still a little annoyed that my first time seeing Gale Harold back on TV he’s a racist. Oh and Seth Green playing a really sweet guy that DIES? What is up with that? The episode capping was a little confusing at first too. Still an excellent two part episode that brought me back to the was Grey’s used to be. There were so many different surgeries going on at once. Also I am SO glad that George & Izzie had that talk about their relationship and how it might be right someday, but it was the wrong timing. Exactly! Totally wrong timing. Hopefully they will leave it alone until next season when it can really feel right. Now, from what I have heard there is only one more new episode to look forward to of Grey’s until after the writer’s strike ends. So who knows what will happen now.
How can I get a rabbit and not mention again? Sorry! I am having a hard time taking pictures of her because I have a shit camera and my digital editor doesn’t seem to know how to take red eyes off of animals.
Here she is:
She is exactly as snuggly as she looks. I am also a big fan of giving my animals long crazy names (see Willow Ozellina Rosemarie and Sebastian Monet Sunshine). So, of course, her name could not be as simple as Penelope. Because I am extremely dorky her full name is Penelope Isobel Grey. So there you have it!
She has been really good, so far. We’re not sure of her exact breed or her exact age or even if she is exactly a her. I’m hoping after her first vet appointment we’ll know more.
She loves kale, pea pods, Brussels sprouts, carrots and radish tops. She’s not too into fruit. We’ve tried a grape, which she liked, but those are supposed to be given in moderation. They say pineapple is very good for her, but she isn’t feeling it. I’ll have to continue to experiment.
The litter box situation is still going well, but she still needs extra guidance when she is free to roam my room. Also as far as toys go if she is allowed to have it, she doesn’t want it. If it is something she shouldn’t chew all she wants to do it chew it.
So it’s been really fun and interesting getting to know this adorable little bunny. I am already completely in love. I can’t tell you how much difference it makes for me to come home to her instead of an empty room.
Wait! Here is one more:

I feel like I could watch this video of “Here it Goes Again” by Ok Go over and over again.
