Blog The Recession!

August 11, 2008

Yeah, I’m usually a little late to these things. Better late than never, someone once said.

Motherhood Uncensored had this great idea and it has been sweeping the internets. There are even prizes or something for joining, but I think the premise is a lot more important than that.

Here is the idea: Click away from your readers onto people’s actual sites. Here is the link to the entry with all the info.

Soo easy! The summer is a slow time for blogging and this economy isn’t helping. You clicking onto someone’s site can help them get through these tough months by building ad revenue.

Plus if someone has recently installed new ads *cough*ME!*cough* It might be nice to click on those too. Every little bit helps and I’m sure if you let them know somehow *cough*COMMENTS*cough* they will very likely return the favor.

Plus if you didn’t know it’s my D-List policy that for everyone who comments on my site (Esp. the newbies) I am always sure to return the love on your site. I will now increase that to going on your site and also clicking your ads. It’s something that I forget to do sometimes so this will help me remember to do so.

If You Only Do One Thing Today…

July 22, 2008

Please make it to donate at least $1 (yes even $1!) to the ever lovely Jill from GlossyVeneer.

It’s seriously so easy and doing something good for other people makes you feel good. It makes you prettier too!

Jill runs marathons because she is bad ass like that. She is currently training to do the Rock & Roll Marathon in San Antonio as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training.

She is trying to raise $3500 and every little bit you give can help her do that.

I know sometimes it feels like we are being pulled in all different directions. This economy is shit and it takes almost a full weeks pay to get gas in the car and food in the fridge, but this is pocket change. You can afford this. Sometimes we feel like we have no more left to give, but we do. Doing good deeds for other people is important. It helps prove that there are people who care and want things to be better. You would think that would always be obvious, but sometimes it isn’t.

So that is my mission for you today. Get out your credit card, fill out the form, and send some money to help Jill kick cancer’s ass! If you can donate more, by all means do, but even $1 can make a difference. No effort is too small.

DONATE NOW!

Thank you! It would warm my heart SO much if everyone who is reading this donates at least a dollar. I love you guys.

Rockstar Blogger For A Day

July 13, 2008

Friday I really got to feel like a rockstar blogger. It was so amazing for me. You know, most of the time I just sort of poke around the blogosphere feeling a little invisible. I think that is why it felt like such a breath of fresh air to get two very awesome pieces of news.

This felt so awesome that I had to take some screenshots because I wanted to always have these images.

1. An entry of mine was chosen for FiveStarFriday! It was the one about My Magical Boobies. That was awesome. You should totally check out FiveStarFriday. It makes for some awesome weekend blog reading. I read each and every one of the other entries chosen and I feel honored to be listed next to them. Some broke my heart, some made me laugh and others made me think.

Amazing Screenshot

You can see this very well unless you look at it large size in Flickr. However I will tell you that a link to my site is next to the likes of: Finslippy, Defective Yeti, Sweet Juniper, Ninja Poodles and In Palinode’s Palace.

Oh and if this post doesn’t make you weep I don’t know what would.

2. I was chosen for Alltop. Yes! Me! I’m now featured in the GLBT section. I can’t even handle how excited I am about this. Hooray for being a lesbian with a blog! It came at the perfect time too because I have that gay marriage post from yesterday already set to go. I seem to be one of the only (if not the only) blog listed there that doesn’t really discuss gay issues as a base part of my blogging. I don’t know, for me I basically just talk about my everyday life and experiences and if something comes up that involves my sexuality I certainly don’t shy away from it. I very much consider myself to be out and proud. Plus anyone who reads my site knows that Kasey is a prominent topic.

alltop

I hope that I do my little section justice!

Honestly though, this really has invigorated me. I feel great. Plus I love how disconnected my buttons are: FiveStarFriday, All Mediocre, D-List Blogger, Alltop. It’s fabulous.

A Contest…Not Here, But There!

May 28, 2008

Need to use up about 15 minutes and also get the chance to win a $25 gift certificate? Check out Archives of Our Lives where she asks you to create something humorous from those damn letter combinations some sites use to keep spammers away.

The contest ends tonight so if you are interested head over there ASAP.

…and now back to our regularly scheduled blog!

Sk*rt no longer, now kirtsy

May 13, 2008

Sk*rt had to change their name because some magazine was getting mad over their success. (I won’t link them or say their name because I hate crap like that.)

So the online community formerly known as Sk*rt is now kirtsy, which is a name so cute I am bummed I didn’t think of it for myself.

For more information you can check out OMSH’s new entry.

Regularly scheduled postings back on today. We had some weekend drama here at Casa Angela which kept me away.

Opinions?

April 30, 2008

What does everyone think of my new theme? It’s nice and springy, yes? I feel like the bottom is sort of plain and I will definitely be changing some font colors.

We can’t seem to get author highlight to work so I guess you’ll have to look out for me.

I would love to hear honest opinions though. I’m going to miss the old one a bit, but I know…headache inducing redness.

I have final papers due and all that so I’m off. I’ll try and form a real entry soon, but you can still catch me in the comments.

Oh Crap.

April 4, 2008

Hello my name is Angela and I completely screw up my website seemingly for fun. I need to completely stay away from playing around and know that if I press a button or change something it actually has some consequences. Thanks to an angel that I don’t know is she wants recognition or not my site has been saved.

I also found out that the version of WordPress I am using is very old. That is probably because I haven’t done a single update since I bought this site 2 years ago. Darn internet and it’s frequent changes! I’m going to stick my head in the freezer. I feel like a much more chilly Silvia Plath right now.

I guess updating is my project for tomorrow.

Getting It Together

April 3, 2008

Hello, my lovelies. I recently realized that I can post old entires on here with their correct date intact. That is going to be my project over the next few days so I can finally be down to one website.

They aren’t good as a warning. These entries start when I was 19. I will also have protected posts interspersed from a secret blog I had. I really just want all my blog entries all in one place.

Thanks for your time, yo.

P.S. - I am starting with the protected entries. If you know the password, great, but you may want to skip them anyway. If you don’t have the password don’t fret. You can always ask me for it if you want. (If you know me well in life please don’t be put out if I say no. I still love you!)

UPDATE - Okay! All the entries from my sucky private site are now up. All filed under The Pieces Don’t Fit and all protected. Tomorrow (or later today) I am going to start on all my earlier entries, which I will just file where they fit. Thanks.
